In the days following the extremely hyped OFF WHITE x Nike “The Ten” release it has become abundantly clear that Virgil Abloh does not intend to stop with just one collection. The strongest indication of this comes in the form of two new OFF WHITE x Nike VaporMax colorways that are set to drop in the new year. The two new colorways, one white and one black, bear some similarities to the OG that released as part of “The Ten”, with outside-the-box detailing and deconstructed construction. Both colorways feature tonal uppers that sit atop an icy blue outsole, unlike the original that featured a blend of black and white with a blacked-out air unit.
The Nike Foamposite One Alternate Galaxy or it’s being officially called “Big Bang,” released at Boston Sneakeasy limited to 114 pairs last week. A wider release is coming in February but a few pairs are already landing on eBay for steep prices. The design is basically a continuation of the original 2012 Galaxy edition but this 2018 version features a more colorful galaxy graphic print on the foam shell to relate with the scientific big bang theory of when the universe began with a rapidly hot explosion. Contrasting black accents throughout, a black rubber outsole and a “Remove Before Flight” hang tag completes the design altogether.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro "Royal" features the updated tumbled leather throughout with a white insole that sports royal ‘Nike Air’ branding to match the tongue. The clean white midsole allows for the Varsity Royal and Black accents to match for a revitalized look.
Not only do the shoes represent the recent trend of printed pairs for this hallowed Swoosh silhouette, but they also suggest a possible future wherein collab Foamposite releases are regular. Granted, Supreme are near the top of the list as far as Nikepartners who can pull of pretty much anything, so we aren’t exactly expecting every sneaker boutique across the land to get their own pair.
Truth is, anything Supreme touches will turn into something golden in the eyes of today’s most fashion-informed sneakerhead. And even though the brand has its roots and DNA in skating, the label has become so much more than that, which makes a Foamposite collaboration appear less unusual by the day. We’ve seen two colorways with this Versace-style print thus far – a black-based one, and this red-painted version that features the famed box logo in the tiny jewel at the tongue.
